Telex Communications has delivered its first commercially available enterprise communications tool, the Nexus Platinum conference phone. Designed for use by three to 20 people with extension capability, the Nexus has 360-degree voice tracking microphones that follow the speaker while canceling out ambient noise. Further filtering and signal processing is performed by a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) chip. AppDancer Networks has improved its award-winning protocol analyzer, the AppDancer/FA Network Flow Analyzer, which we reviewed in September. This tool provides a top-down analysis of the flow or conversation between client and server in granular detail. AppDancer has added support for SCCP (Skinny Client Control Protocol) clients, making monitoring of Cisco VoIP calls possible. Kontiki's DMS (Delivery Management System), which uses grid technology for efficient content delivery, adds servers to the grid network with its Grid Server software. Executive Software is releasing a second edition of Diskeeper 7.0, with improvements to the product's defragging capabilities and disk processing designed to save time and disk space. Added features include Maximum Disk Performance, which promises to optimize defragging and free-space utilization through better scheduling. The Improved Free Space feature is said to improve consolidation of free space by increasing disk processing on NTFS during scheduled defragging.
