Test Environments

The product:

  • Must detect attacks via signatures.
  • Must block attacks.
  • Must log attacks.
  • Must install transparently in the network requiring no IP address changes.
We will evaluate two products from each vendor:
  • One needs to support gigabyte traffic.
  • One needs to support 1.5 megabits of traffic.
For testbed testing, the product:
  • Must install transparently on the network using multimode gigabyte Fiber SC connectors (other fiber physical interfaces are acceptable as long as device interface to ST multimode fiber whips are supplied).
  • Management interface should be copper Fast Ethernet or managed through one of the existing monitor ports.
For live network testing:
  • For the Syracuse Lab live network test, the same device used for testbed testing can be used for live network testing as long as the device supports Fast Ethernet copper interfaces.
  • For NWC Inc testing, the device needs to support Fast Ethernet copper interfaces, but traffic will be limited to 1.5 Mbps.
