Java Development Environment: Symantec Visual Café

Visual Café's advanced visual form-based development is sweetened by the inclusion of dozens of components written entirely in Java. Visual Café's two-way development, which works to keep the code and the visual views of the project in sync, is a first in Java IDEs (Integrated Development Environments). Visual Café goes one step further with its Interaction Wizard, which predicts and generates code to handle many of the basic interactions that occur among the components included in designing a typical GUI.

You'll find it easy to be highly productive in Visual Café. The visual forms-based paradigm will strike a familiar chord with Microsoft Visual Basic and Borland Delphi users. Unlike the mechanics of working with Microsoft Visual J++, responding to simple user interface events and injecting some user-interface logic in Visual Café requires minimal actual coding--and, in some cases, no coding at all.

You'll like the nonvisual programming tools in Visual Café, as well. A mature IDE--with a full-featured editor, debugger, fast compiler and JIT (just-in-time) compiler--keeps things productive during traditional nonvisual coding. Competing products may outshine Visual Café in a few specific areas, but the overall composite strength of Visual Café is unmatched.
